HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Abortion rights activists are holding an event at Connecticut’s Legislative Office Building to mark the 39th anniversary of the landmark Supreme Court decision Roe vs. Wade.
The Connecticut Coalition for Choice, which includes 10 organizations, has scheduled a news conference Monday to discuss how the ruling is facing unprecedented challenges. The group said it is committed to fighting efforts at the state and federal levels to potentially roll back access to abortion.
Abortion opponents are also planning events to mark the anniversary.
A March for Life, originally scheduled Saturday in Bridgeport, had to be rescheduled because of the weekend snowstorm to Saturday, Jan. 28. Peter Wolfgang, executive director of the Family Institute of Connecticut, will give the keynote address.
The march begins at 3787 Main St. in Bridgeport.
