STORRS, Conn. (AP) _ The University of Connecticut says a retired political scientist who specialized in U.S. politics, parties and elections has died.
Howard L. Reiter, who worked 35 years at the university, including five years as head of the department, died Tuesday.
He was 66.
UConn did not disclose the cause of death in its announcement Thursday.
Reiter was a Fulbright Research Scholar in western Europe, a recipient of Choice magazine’s Outstanding Academic Books Award and a lecturer on U.S. politics in Europe, Asia, and Latin America.
He also was president of the New England Political Science Association from 2010 to 2011.
The university says a memorial service will be scheduled on campus in the next few weeks.
