Chenevert Named “Person of the Year” By Aviation Industry Magazine

United Technologies Corporation’s chairman and CEO Louis Chenevert has been chosen the 2011 Person of the Year of “Aviation Week & Space Technology” magazine.

In its cover story,  the magazine says Chenevert is the person who had the most impact on the industry, including the largest aerospace and defense deal of the decade,   UTC’s $18.4 billion dollar deal to acquire Goodrich

The magazine piece says in recent years,  UTC’s aerospace businesses,   while important.  had been somewhat eclipsed by the corporation’s other businesses, Carrier and Otis Elevator,  and aerospace sales had dropped below half of its revenues.  But the publication says that changed in 2011, with Pratt and Whitney’s billion dollar geared turbofan offered as an option on the Airbus A320NEO aircraft and the Goodrich deal.

In the words of the publication’s editor Anthony Velocci,  “The sum of Louis Chenevert’s achievements will reverberate for many years to come.”
