Chase Ends In Southington Gasoline Tanker Crash

State Police say a chase involving a gasoline tanker truck ended in a crash near the intersection of Route 10 and Route 322 in Southington this afternoon.

Both the driver of the tanker truck, and the driver of the vehicle being chased where taken to the hospital.

State Police said a car stolen from Woodbury was spotted by a trooper earlier in the day, but the vehicle got away.

Another trooper spotted the stolen vehicle later, and pursued it.

The second chase ended when the vehicle crashed into a tanker truck carrying gasoline, starting a fire.

Emergency crews shut down nearby roads, and evacuated houses in the neighborhood.

Neighbors saw large amounts of thick, dark smoke, and a ball of flames.

Power was knocked out to about a thousand homes and businesses in the area, and some people lost cable or internet service.
