The Hartford Courant reports that police say the driver, a 15 year old boy from New Britain, crashed into a tree at about 8 p.m. Sunday. Police say speed and driver inexperience are believed to have caused the crash.

The driver was taken to Hartford Hospital with serious injuries. Police said he was in stable condition.
Authorities have not identified the two youngsters.
