Flight Change Leaves Family Confused About Girl’s Whereabouts
HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ A change in the itinerary of a Southwest Airlines flight carrying a 9-year-old girl to visit her grandmother in Connecticut left relatives panicked when a plane arrived without her on it.
The family of Chloe Boyce says the airline did not inform them when the girl from Clarksville, Tenn., had to change planes unexpectedly Tuesday.
Stepfather Joseph Kerr said Friday the girl was always accompanied by an attendant, but the airline’s records showed her landing at LaGuardia Airport when she was still in Baltimore.
Southwest spokesman Brad Hawkins says the airline has apologized to the family. He said its policy on unaccompanied minors aims to avoid such situations by booking them only on itineraries that don’t require plane changes.
Kerr said he will drive from Tennessee to bring Chloe home.
