SHELTON, Conn. (AP) – State police say three people were killed in two separate car crashes within a few hundred yards of one another on Route 8 in Shelton.
A car was traveling south when it veered into the median and flipped over near 1:30 a.m. Saturday, ejecting a husband and wife from Shelton who were later pronounced dead.
Roughly four hours later, a 30-year-old Ansonia man was killed when his car slammed into the back of a dump truck as he drove north on the same road. The state truck had only a damaged bumper and the driver was taken to a hospital for observation.
The accidents closed the roadway for several hours and both accidents remain under investigation.
