State Employee Fraud Investigation Grows

The number of state employees being investigated for possible fraud in applications for federal food aid after Tropical Storm Irene now stands at 34.  Governor Malloy says the names of ten more workers have been forwarded to their agency heads for administrative review.

The investigation into the federal disaster aid program was announced earlier this month,  after complaints from some state workers that their colleagues had sought the disaster aid even though they did not meet income guidelines.

Malloy said he’s dismayed that the number of possible fraud cases has continued to climb,  but says he remains determined to move forward with the investigation.
