One Stolen Statue Recovered; One Damaged Beyond Repair

Waterbury police say one bronze statue stolen from a Waterbury cemetery over the weekend was recovered,  with damage,  but a second was destroyed beyond repair.  The statues,  one depicting the figure of Death,  and the second the figure of a woman with a tablet, were stolen from the historic Riverside Cemetery.

Police say a scrapyard which saw media reports on the theft called police.  That helped them identify two possible suspects in the case.  Police say they are seeking the two,  but are withholding additional information because the investigation is continuing.
