Powerball Winners’ Affidavit Says They Are The Only Beneficiaries

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ Three Connecticut men who claimed a $254 million Powerball prize swore in an affidavit sent to lottery officials that they are the only beneficiaries of a trust set up for the money.

A landlord for the men’s Greenwich  wealth-management firm claimed one of them told him they were representing a fourth person who didn’t want his identity disclosed.

But the affidavit obtained Tuesday by The Associated Press through a Freedom of Information request attests they are the only lifetime beneficiaries. State lottery officials say all their rules were followed.

The affidavit was signed Nov. 29, a day after the men came forward to claim the lump-sum prize of $103.6 million.

Details were reported earlier Tuesday by Hearst Connecticut Newspapers and the Hartford Courant.
