Red Cross Worker Charged With Embezzling

The former finance director of the Middlesex/Central Connecticut Red Cross  is charged with embezzling from the agency .

State Police say after receiving a complaint from the Red Cross they got warrants to examine financial records at three different banks.  Police charge that 53 -year-old Diane Williams of  East Hartford over-paid herself over a period that could be as long as three years.  She is charged with first degree larceny and was released on $200,000 bond.  She is scheduled for a court appearance later this month.
