Armed Men Rob Middletown Liquor Store

Middletown police are investigating an armed robbery in which two men stole cash and alcohol from a liquor store. Police say two black males wearing cloth masks and hooded sweatshirts entered Ghezzi’s Package Store at 970 Newfield Street just before 6 p.m. Tuesday. They showed the elderly female clerk a black semi-automatic handgun and screamed at her, demanding money.

When the clerk opened the cash register, one of the men reached in and took an undetermined amount of cash. One of the men also took a bottle of liquor from the counter as the pair were leaving.

The robbers left in an unknown direction. A police K-9 team tracked the suspects north from the store but abruptly stopped.

The suspects are described as slender, about 5 feet, 5 inches tall.

Anyone with information about the suspects is urged to contact the Middletown Police Department Major Investigations Unit at 860-344-3240.
