Police: Holiday Patrols Net More Than 400 Speeders

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) – State police say they have stopped more than 430 people for speeding and responded to hundreds of other violations so far this holiday weekend.

Extra troopers have been patrolling Connecticut roads and highways over the long Thanksgiving weekend. Authorities say they will be using sobriety checkpoints and targeted DUI patrols through Sunday.

A news release Friday morning said that in addition to the speeding tickets issued since midnight Wednesday, state troopers have stopped people for more than 800 moving violations including cell phone use and aggressive driving.
