Blast Rocks Wallingford Building; One Worker Injured

Wallingford Police say seven people were inside a commercial building when there was an explosion early Thursday. Police say the blast, at All Molded Plastics Company on Fairfield Boulevard, occurred around 3:30 a.m.

Police say one worker was taken to an area hospital with shrapnel wounds from the blast. The injuries were not life-threatening, said authorities.

While the investigation into the blast continues, authorities suspect a tank of nitrogen gas was the source. The explosion was so powerful that it blew out windows of the building, though police say the structure is stable.
