Facebook Comment Prompts Lockdown At High School;

Bristol police say Bristol Central High School is in lockdown this morning,  as a precautionary measure ordered by the school superintendent.  Police say a general statement viewed as threatening had been posted on Facebook,  and authorities took steps in the interest of safety.

Police say there is no danger.  A message was sent to parents explaining the situation.

The following message was posted on the school’s website:

“Good morning parents of Bristol Central students, I am calling to inform you that our school is currently in a lockdown. The police are investigating a situation. Your students are in locked classrooms with faculty and staff supervising and are safe. Please do not come to the school to pick up your child. We will update you by phone and on our website as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience.
