West Haven Man Charged With Sexual Assault In Plainfield

A West Haven man is under arrest in Plainfield, in connection with the alleged sexual assault of an underage girl.

In November of 2010, police say Robert C. Russell, 38, drove from West Haven to Plainfield and met the alleged victim. Russell allegedly checked into the Knights Inn Motel in the Central Village section of town and sexually assaulted the girl before dropping her off near her home and driving back to West Haven.

Police say DNA linked Russell to the assault.

Russell is charged with first-degree sexual assault, second-degree sexual assault, enticing a minor, and illegal sexual contact. Russell was arrested Tuesday morning and was being held on $100,000 bond pending arraignment later in the day at Danielson Superior Court.
