Police Charge Man In Connection With Waterbury Stabbing

Waterbury police have arrested a man who they say killed a woman in his Springbrook Road apartment early Tuesday and then dragged her body to a wooded area across the street. Police charged 27-year-old Eduardo Ortiz with murder in connection with the death of the woman, who police believe is a woman in her 30s from Waterbury.

Waterbury police Capt. Christopher Corbett says the woman was stabbed multiple times. Police believe she was killed in Ortiz’s basement apartment and then dragged to the wooded area across the street. Corbett says her partially-clothed body was visible from the road and was discovered around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Ortiz is being held on a $1 million bond for arraignment in Waterbury Superior Court on Wednesday.
