Bradley Says Scholarship Decision Was His Own

By PAT EATON-ROBB,  Associated Press

STORRS, Conn. (AP) _ Connecticut center Michael Bradley says it was his decision to give up his scholarship this year so that UConn could bring star recruit Andre Drummond into the fold.

Bradley said he saw it as a chance to better himself by going against a top player in practice, and a chance for the team to get better.

Bradley, who grew up in a home for children from troubled families, said it was tough to give up the money, but believes the sacrifice will be worth it. He said he doesn’t want anyone to pity
him.

UConn has only 10 scholarships this season after losing one because of NCAA violations and two more because of a poor academic performance rating.

Drummond committed to the school in August.
