NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) _ Bicyclists in New Haven are asking city officials to more aggressively issue citations when a motorist is to blame for an accident.
Juli Stupakevich, a city resident who walks or rides her bike to work every day, wrote to Mayor John DeStefano Jr. and other city officials, saying motorists should not get a slap on the wrist for serious offenses.
The New Haven Register reports (http://bit.ly/qa0N22 ) that Chief Administrative Officer Robert Smuts said the Police Department does not track accidents between vehicles and bicyclists or pedestrians. He said he has asked the Police Department to look into two incidents where motorists found at fault were issued a verbal or written warning.
