HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ Connecticut House Speaker Christopher Donovan is convening a new group that will examine issues facing small businesses trying to purchase health care insurance for their employees and families.
The group is scheduled to meet for the first time Tuesday at the Legislative Office Building in Hartford.
New Haven state Rep. Robert Mega, a Democrat and co-chairman of the Insurance Committee, is chairing the group of small business owners and lawmakers. The panel is expected to come up with a set of recommendations for new legislation.
The group plans to review insurance regulations affecting small groups, barriers that small businesses face when trying to purchase affordable coverage and alternative health insurance models, among other issues.
Donovan is a candidate for the 5th congressional seat in the 2012 election.
