Two people treated in the emergency room at Dempsey Hospital after a small explosion at the University of Connecticut Health Center this afternoon. The chemical explosion took place shortly before 3 p.m. in a lab at the Cell and Genome Sciences Building at 400 Farmington Avenue.
The injuries were described as minor. Other people in the lab in the single-story building were not hurt.
The building was evacuated, with some people allowed back inside about an hour and a half later.
Farmington firefighters provided mutual aid for the UConn Fire Department.
