Arrest In Theft Of Veteran’s Identity, Awards

State police have arrested a Monroe man who is accused of breaking into the home of a decorated veteran of the war in Afghanistan, and stealing various items and the vet’s identity.

Police say 54-year-old Edward Jones took two safes, coins, an Eagle Scout badge, and identification documents from the Prospect home of Edward Rynkowsky in May. Police say Jones used the stolen documents to steal $7,000 from the victim’s bank accounts, and to run up $8,000 on a credit card account he he opened using the stolen documents

He faces 146 counts, including burglary, larceny, and forgery. and was being held on $50,000 bond pending arraignment  in Waterbury Superior Court.
