State Police Say Pens Contained Liquid Cocaine

BRANFORD, Conn. (AP) – Connecticut State Police say two illegal immigrants are being held in lieu of $2 million bail after investigators intercepted writing pens filled with liquid cocaine that had been sent to them from Peru.

Authorities say more than 2,016 grams of liquid cocaine was in 1,008 Pilot pens. Police seized the drugs along with a 2004 Ford Expedition and nearly $11,000 in cash.

Valentin Perez Rivera, 27, and Flore Soto, 49, have been charged with possession of narcotics and possession of narcotics with intent to sell.

State police say Rivera and Soto accepted the package when investigators delivered it to a home on Montoya Circle in Branford.
