Injured Bear In Bristol Tree

Wildlife experts from the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection were called to the Memorial Boulevard area of Bristol   after a bear which was hit by a car climbed a tree.

They were able to tranquilize the bear and get it down,  and took it to the state wildlife center at Sessions Woods for examination.  Police say the bear appeared to have an injury to its foot.  A DEEP spokesman said if the bear’s leg is broken,  it will have to be euthanized.

Traffic on Memorial Boulevard is backed up and South Street in Bristol is blocked off between Willis and East Streets.
