GROTON, Conn. (AP) – Members of the Navy community in southeastern Connecticut are commemorating the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks with a 21-gun salute at the submarine museum in Groton.
The event Sunday at the Submarine Force Library and Museum will also include the unveiling of two memorial banners. One features the names of the people killed on 9/11, and the other lists the names of the more than 9,000 service members who have lost their lives in conflicts since then.
The names have been written on the banners by people who have visited the museum at Naval Submarine Base New London over the past month.
The event begins at 1 p.m. and is open to the public.
