“Burly Bandit” Faces Additional Charges
State police say the bank robber dubbed the “Burly Bandit” by the FBI and currently serving a sentence for eleven bank robberies in New England and New York has been charged in an additional holdup and an attempted robbery in Somers last summer.
Police say 48-year-old Robert Ferguson is charged with robbery and attempted larceny, as well as carrying a facsimile firearm and breach of peace. He was brought to Connecticut this week from the federal prison at Fort Dix, New Jersey.
The state charges involve a holdup at the Webster Bank on Main Street in Somers June 24, 2010, which followed by just minutes, a visit to the Rockville Bank nearby.
