MILFORD, Conn. (AP) _ A Superior Court judge has spared the life of Buddy the golden retriever, but has ordered to dog to stay out of Connecticut.
Buddy had been ordered destroyed last year after allegedly biting and knocking down a woman who tried break up a fight between Buddy and another dog in Milford.
The Connecticut Post reports that Judge Richard Arnold on Tuesday accepted an agreement that will allow Richard Rosenthal, co-director of the Long Island-based Lexus Project, and animal defense group, to take the dog to Florida, where it will have to wear a muzzle while outside.
Buddy’s former owners waged a social media campaign to save the dog. A Facebook page called “Save Buddy From the Milford Dog Pound” has received the support of over 1,500 people.
