Beating Victim Identified

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) _ A woman found dead in New Haven over the weekend has been identified.

Police say they are investigating the death of 22-year-old Cassandra Mead as a homicide, but have not made any arrests.

They say she had been beaten.

Mead’s father tells the New Haven Register  that his daughter suffered from bipolar disorder and had a drug addiction, and had begun “hanging out with the wrong people.”

The medical examiner has not released a cause of death. Mead’s body was found Saturday morning on Union Street.
