WTIC’s Joe D’Ambrosio reports from Storrs that Thursday’s University of Connecticut-Fordham, football game will be postponed.

National Guard troops are mobilized at Rentschler Field in East Hartford, where the Huskies play their home games.  They’ve been distributing water, meals-ready-to-eat and other emergency supplies to trucks from towns still lacking electricity,  and it’s not clear when that effort will end.

The game would be played Saturday at noon, 3 p.m. or 7 p.m. if the stadium is available.  Saturday plans for the stadium may be known by Wednesday.

The game will be the Huskies 2011 opener,  and the debut of the new coach, Paul Pasqualone.
