Hospital Patients Transferred After Storm Cuts Power

When power went out at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Stafford Springs Saturday, the hospital switched to its backup generator.  But then they lost the generator as well.  A spokesperson says after discussions with the power company,   they decided to transfer patients to other hospitals, starting with critical care patients.

The hospital’s Amy Krysiewski says family members were notified as each patient was transferred,  and hospital staff members accompanied each patient during the transfer.

She says the emergency room, obstetrics and operating rooms will be staffed in case of emergency.
