Police: Prosecutor Charged With DUI Apparently Took His Own Life

GLASTONBURY, Conn. (AP) – Connecticut authorities say a state prosecutor who was found dead after being charged with driving under the influence apparently took his own life.

State police Lt. J. Paul Vance says the body of 56-year-old John Cashmon of Cromwell was found Tuesday afternoon in a wooded area off Main Street in Glastonbury. Autopsy results are pending, but Vance said state and local police determined there was no criminal aspect to Cashmon’s death.

Police say Cashmon, a prosecutor at Middletown Superior Court, was charged with DUI in Glastonbury Saturday night and left the police station on foot. State police say he was reported missing on Monday. It’s not clear how he died.

Vance said state, Glastonbury and Cromwell police have closed their investigations.
