Pendergast Named Interim UConn Athletic Director

Paul Pendergast, president of the Saint Francis Foundation and Senior Vice President of Development for Saint Francis Hospital has been named Interim Director of Athletics at the University of Connecticut.  UConn President Susan Herbst says the appointment is effective September 19th.

The move comes two days after UConn and former Athletic Director Jeff Hathaway announced they had signed a separation agreement.

Pendergast served as Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing and Corporate Relations for the UConn Division of Athletics from 1998 to 2002 and then as Senior Associate Athletic Director for Development until 2006.

Herbst said Pendergast has a great reputation throughout the university and the state and feels he will share her high standards when it comes to athletics,  including student academic performance.

Pendergast says he’s thrilled to return to UConn.
