A-Rod Back with Yankees, Not Quite Ready for Action

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) _ Alex Rodriguez has rejoined the New York Yankees _ but not at the plate yet.

Rodriguez was not in the lineup last night against the Twins. In the afternoon, Rodriguez took grounders at third base and ran at full speed to first and second, looking a little stiff.

He played the night before for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to finish his rehabilitation assignment for his recovering right knee and traveled to Minnesota for the start of a four-game series.

Rodriguez said in Pennsylvania on Wednesday night he wasn’t quite ready to return to major league action. He hasn’t played for the Yankees since July 7th and hasn’t hit a home run since June 11th.

Rodriguez had surgery July 11th to repair torn meniscus cartilage in his knee.
