Another Deadly Dump Truck Wreck In Wilton

WILTON, Conn. (AP) – Wilton police say a 71-year-old man has died in a second fatal dump truck crash this week on Route 7.

Police told The Advocate of Stamford that Frank Johnson of Norwalk was killed Thursday night.

Authorities say Johnson was driving northbound on Route 7 near the Ridgefield line when his car crossed into the southbound lane and crashed head-on into a dump truck. Why Johnson’s car went into the oncoming lane isn’t clear. The truck driver wasn’t seriously hurt.

On Tuesday, 71-year-old Merle Singer of Mesquite, Texas, died after the car in which she was a passenger collided with a dump truck on Route 7. Police say the car’s 91-year-old driver made a left turn in front of the truck.
