Woman Hurt When She Crashes Car Into House

A Clinton woman is in the hospital after police in Old Saybrook say she crashed a car into a home in their town Wednesday evening. The first calls came in around 6:30 of a car having crashed into a fence on Seabreeze Road. The car fled that scene but police soon began receiving 911 calls of a car having driven into a house on Cambridge Court West.

Police say 21 year old Amanda Maye crossed Maple Street in the vehicle and crashed through a six-foot high chain link fence, narrowly missing a tree before hitting the house on Cambridge Court West. Maye is currently in Yale New Haven Hospital’s critical care unit in stable condition.

As for the house, police say no one inside was injured. There was damage to the foundation, the structure, and some items inside but it was deemed livable and the occupants were not displaced. The accident remains under investigation.
