Ansonia Fire Chief Put On Leave Over Guns

ANSONIA, Conn. (AP) _ Ansonia Fire Chief Ronald Burgess has been placed on unpaid administrative leave after officials say firearms were stolen from his city office.
Mayor James Della Volpe said he placed Burgess on leave Wednesday after learning about the theft of the guns, which were legally registered to Burgess.
Police say burglars this week stole about $6,000 worth of items from the fire chief’s office, including a handgun, rifle, ammunition and communications gear.
Della Volpe says Burgess will be on leave pending the outcome of the police investigation.
Burgess didn’t immediately return a phone message left at his home Thursday morning.
