Tests ID White Powder Sent To Naugatuck Home

NAUGATUCK, Conn. (AP) _ Naugatuck police say white powder mailed to a local woman’s home turned out to be table salt.
Police told the Republican-American of Waterbury that they were recently informed of the test results by the FBI.
An envelope with the salt was mailed to a woman’s apartment on Cherry Street on July 28. The incident prompted police to evacuate the building, which includes a pizza restaurant, and bar access to it for about 36 hours.
Police say the envelope had a return address on it, but they wouldn’t disclose the address or who the sender was.
The investigation continues. Authorities are trying to determine whether the sender intended to harass or frighten the woman.
