MANCHESTER, Conn. (AP) _ Police say a Manchester teenager and a friend took his mother’s car out for an early morning joyride and crashed into a homeowner’s garage a short distance away. No one was injured.
Authorities say the 17-year-old boy ran from the accident scene on McKee Street early Tuesday but was later caught and charged with reckless driving. His name wasn’t released. His friend was also located.
Police say the teen took the car without permission and crashed into the detached garage at about 12:30 a.m.
The homeowners say they were awoken by the accident, which happened just feet from their bedroom. Their insurance agent was expected to survey the damage on Tuesday.
