Car Hits Cafe, Several Injured

STAMFORD, Conn. (AP) _ Officials say a man in his 70s accidentally plowed his car into a Stamford restaurant during lunch hour, injuring himself and nine people, including an infant and a pregnant woman.

Stamford police Capt. Richard Conklin said the unidentified driver mistakenly stepped on the gas pedal rather than the brake.

The vehicle accelerated through the storefront into the interior of the Cafe Oo La La.

The incident was being investigated Monday.
