DEEP Investigates Boating Accidents

The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection is investigating a pair of accidents  Saturday on Connecticut waters.  DEEP says in the first incident around 5 p.m, a teenaged girl died following a water skiing accident on Lake Lillinona in Newtown.  The youngster’s line became tangled with the propeller of the boat pulling her.  She was pronounced dead at Danbury Hospital.

About an hour later, officials say three people sustained non life-threatening injuries on the Connecticut River in Windsor.  DEEP says two people in a tube were hurt when they were struck by a jet skier, who was also injured, at the Wilson state boat launch.

Both incidents are under investigation.
