WALLINGFORD, Conn. (AP) _ Family members of a patient at a Wallingford rehabilitation facility says they are struggling to understand how she got access to one of the facility’s vans, suffering fatal injuries when she crashed it into a tree.
Asilin Dorsey’s mother says her daughter was admitted last Tuesday to Gaylord Hospital for rehabilitation services after suffering a traumatic brain injury during a previous accident.
Dorsey, of Hartford, died Saturday when she took the van, struck several cars during a police pursuit, then crashed on the Merritt Parkway.
Deborah Dorsey says she believes her daughter was not in her right state of mind because of her brain injuries, and questions how she got access to the vehicle and its keys.
Police are seeking witnesses to the collision or events leading up to it.
