A committee has started taking applications in its search for Southern Connecticut State University’s next president.
Stanley Battle has been SCSU’s interim president since early 2010, when Cheryl Norton resigned after learning her contract would not be renewed.
Advertisements for the presidency recently started appearing in education-related publications, including a posting in the Chronicle of Higher Education. Applications are being taken through Sept. 21.
Southern has about 11,300 students and more than 100 degree-granting programs.
Its notice says it seeks a president “who will inspire confidence” and understands the challenges of academic planning, fund-raising, working with on-campus and off-campus partners and finances.
The potential salary was not stated in the ad, but Battle and the presidents of Eastern, Western and Central Connecticut state universities are paid around $300,000 yearly.
