Middletown Man In Drug Bust Outside Grade School

A Middletown man faces drug and weapons charges after a Middletown police officer parked at the SnowElementary  School saw him go through a stop sign.

Police say when the officer stopped the vehicle,  he could smell marijuana.  He says 27-year-old John Heckstall told him he had a machete in the vehicle and showed him a cigarette case containing marijuana cigarettes.

Police say a search of the vehicle found nearly four ounces of marijuana,  a large sum of cash, drug paraphernalia and a Colt .380 pistol.

Heckstall  was arrested on a variety of charges and held in lieu of $200,000 bond.
