Wallingford Men Charged With Stealing Highway Sign

MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) – Vermont State Police say two Connecticut men are facing charges they stole a road construction sign from Interstate 89 near Montpelier.

Police say that just before 1:30 p.m. Sunday they received a report of two men in a convertible who had taken the sign in the southbound lane near Exit 8.

A short time later a trooper spotted a car matching the description and when he stopped it, he found the sign in the back seat.

William and Robert Pursell of Wallingford, Conn. were taken into custody. Police say William Pursell admitted they had taken the sign.

The two are due in court next month to answer the charge.
