HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) – State police say they investigated 310 motor vehicle accidents from early Friday through Monday as part of stepped-up Fourth of July enforcement efforts. Forty-four of the crashes involved injuries.
There were no fatal accidents reported on the roads and highways patrolled by state police over the holiday weekend. That’s compared to four fatalities during the Independent Day weekend in 2010.
Police say troopers issued more than 2,000 speeding tickets, 255 tickets for failing to wear a seatbelt, and made 77 arrests for drunken driving.
