MERIDEN, Conn. (AP) _ Connecticut authorities say a New York man wanted in connection with two carjackings in Meriden and Trumbull has been captured on Long Island.

U.S. marshals arrested 26-year-old Hotson Neree of Brentwood, N.Y., on Wednesday in Port Jefferson after receiving a tip. Neree also faces two armed robbery charges on Long Island.

Police say Neree kidnapped a man at gunpoint at the Meriden Mall on June 9 and forced him to drive to New York. On the way, they were stopped for speeding by a Trumbull police officer. Police say Neree ran away and stole an SUV at gunpoint on Elberta Avenue.

Neree was charged with home invasion, robbery, kidnapping with a firearm and other crimes.

He’s being detained on Long Island. It’s not clear if he has a lawyer.
