HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ Hartford fire and police officials are trying to determine how a man burned to death in the city’s West End.

Authorities were called to Girard Avenue near the University of Connecticut Law School shortly before 5 a.m. Sunday on a report of a man on fire. Officials say the man was pronounced dead at the scene after firefighters put out the fire.

Police say they don’t believe the death was the result of a crime, but authorities are trying to figure out exactly what happened.

The man’s identity hasn’t been confirmed. The medical examiner’s office will be performing an autopsy.
