Some Connecticut residents who had roles in an upcoming Hollywood movie will make an appearance in Hartford Friday, at the opening of the new Jim Carrey film “Mr. Popper’s Penguins.”
The crew filmed some scenes for the movie based on the children’s book at the Mystic Aquarium penguin exhibit last year, and on Friday, two of the penguins from the 30-member colony of African penguins will walk the red carpet at a private screening of the movie at Hartford’s Palace Theater.
Besides Carrey, “Mr. Popper’s Penguins” stars Angela Lansbury and Carla Gugino. It tells the story of a businessman who unexpectedly inherits six penguins.
The penguins are on exhibit at the Roger Tory Peterson Penguin Exhibit at Mystic Aquarium, open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily during the summer.
