Infant’s Death Ruled A Homicide

Ansonia Police say an autopsy by the Medical Examiner’s office has determined the death of a five-month-old baby over the weekend was a homicide.  Police have made no arrests, but say they have a suspect in the case,  and the investigation is continuing.

Police say they were called to a home on Hubbell Avenue Friday, where they found the baby boy unresponsive.  He was taken to Griffin Hospital, then transferred to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he was put on life support,  and died on Sunday.

Police say the autopsy Tuesday determined the infant died of blunt force trauma to the head.

The child was one of three being cared for by the mother’s boyfriend at the time police were called.  Police say the other children —  ages 2 and 5 —  were not injured,  and the Department of Children and Families checked on their status.
