HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ Hartford’s public schools and the University of Hartford are collaborating on research and education.
The city’s schools and the private university signed an agreement Wednesday allowing public school students and teachers to enroll in university courses. University education students will have priority placement as student teachers in Hartford’s schools.
The university’s Institute for Translational Research will bring together faculty from Hartford’s schools and the university to determine what research is needed. For example, one initiative has begun studying the effects of after-school programs on student achievement and looking at the potential effects of intensive professional development and family involvement on student literacy learning.
